A bridging payment is a short-term payment designed to assist you if you are experiencing temporary financial difficulties.
All students can apply for a bridging payment. However, if you have any current or historic debt owing to the university (tuition fees, accommodation, library fines or other sundry items) you may not be able to be considered for a bridging payment.
These are one off payments of £200 which are paid direct into your nominated bank account, but please note they take 7-10 days to clear. Typically you can only apply for one bridging payment each academic year.
If you apply for and are subsequently made an award from the Student Support Fund, the bridging payment will automatically be deducted from your Student Support Fund award.
Please contact the Student Money Advice team by email studentadvice@brighton.ac.uk or telephone 01273 642888 to find out more. The advisers will ask you about your financial situation and ask you to provide evidence of financial hardship.
