GSK, Roche Diagnostics, The Sussex Beacon, NHS Confederation and more, came to the university’s Entrepreneur Café to explore innovative health solutions.
13 November 2019
The café was launched 11 months ago to “establish Greater Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½ as a beacon for health innovation and enterprise” and forms part of the university’s Healthy Futures initiative.
The focus of this event was to allow delegates to work together sharing ideas and expertise which could be brought together to find new pathways for collaborative funding applications. Five thematic areas were explored which ranged from young people’s mental health to regenerative medicine and devices, each designing a unique work package which will be developed over the next few months.
Jonathan Sharrock, Chief Executive of Coast to Capital Local Enterprise Partnership, said: “We’re excited to see a national profile for the excellent and uniquely innovative industries in health innovation build here in the Greater Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½ area, where the university and the business sectors are working very closely together.

“That’s the sort of industry that’s going to drive the British economy into the 21st century.”
Ben Huckle, External Collaborative Lead at Glaxo Smith Kline, said “The initiative really helps us gain an awareness of the industries in and around the Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½ area and how we can work together and share resources and expertise particularly as we’re neighbours. I think that’s really exciting.”
