The optical diesel single cylinder engine is based on a Ford Puma 2.0 engine. It features state-of-the-art optical access to the combustion chamber through three windows in the head and through the piston.
The optical piston has been designed to replicate a standard metal piston and therefore provides unprecedented visual access right into the piston bowl. The engine also features variable swirl ratio, variable intake boost temperature and pressure and a custom-made injection driver that allows complete control over fuel pressure and the injection pulse, enabling skip firing and multiple injections.
