University Executive Board

The University Executive Board assists the Vice-Chancellor in overseeing the strategic direction of the university and delivering its vision. The board ensures that there is effective leadership, management and coordination of all the major academic and support activities. The board monitors and interprets external events and policy directions to understand any likely impact on the university.

The University Executive Board is responsible for developing the detailed strategic plans to deliver to university’s strategy. The board provides the Board of Governors and its committees with executive reports, draft budgets and accounts, key performance indicators, benchmarking information, capital investment plans and reports on risk management.

The Vice-Chancellor and the University Executive Board take key executive decisions to ensure that the institution operates efficiently and effectively.

Responsibilities

Discusses a broad range of opportunities and challenges, covering all areas of strategic interest to the university.
Understands and interprets the strategic environment in which the university operates, including dissemination of analyses and consultation on the strategic choices facing the university.
Decides, as necessary, the action to be taken by the university in response to external opportunities and initiatives.
Scrutinises the university’s key strategic plans and determines related implementation as necessary.
Monitors and is accountable for the university’s performance against its plans, taking into account relevant indicators, benchmarks and targets.
Works closely with senior academic and professional service leaders to understand activity across the university to deliver the university strategy.
Directs the affairs of the university on behalf of the Board of Governors and Academic Board.
Agrees and monitors the university budget and resources utilisation.
